Tracy's story of perseverance and hope

Tracy worked hard to earn her money as a surgical technician. However, like many others, Tracy was a victim of scams that resulted in her losing $60,000. All this happened shortly after her husband of 30 years unexpectedly passed away. Imagine what it would be like to manage the stress of losing your husband, and on top of this being confused about why you can’t seem to make ends meet.

Tracy started to fall behind on rent and resorted to taking out a second loan on her vehicle. Tracy found herself wrapped up in a situation that started to take a mental and physical toll, and her health declined rapidly. An acquaintance of Tracy’s noticed how quickly she was deteriorating and knew something had to be done.

Tracy’s friend sought out support and found Big Sky Senior Services. Our Representative Payee and Case Management team got to work immediately. They were able to help Tracy stop the scams as well as give her the support she needed to find a place of financial safety. Our team has continued to be an advocate for Tracy, helping her manage her Social Security and pension plans so Tracy can focus on what’s most important - being an active member of the community, getting nutritious food, and, of course, spoiling her grandchildren.

Contributions like yours help us to continue vital programs like the Prevention of Elder Abuse with its payee services. This program alone manages 100+ clients’ finances, and finds resources for clients to free them from the risks of elder abuse. Through all of our programs, we believe we can help seniors who have been victims of fraud to be independent once again and increase their quality of life.

We hope you will consider giving regularly to support our work.
